Happy Friday, y’all.
Welcome to The Fluff Stuff!
Here, you’ll find a quick seasonal living recap and a weekly reminder to live your best seasonal life. Just follow the formula!
How I lived seasonally last week (pictured above)
Roses from my son’s girlfriend
Summer reading & my favorite breakfast (I am who I am)
The ultimate summer potato chip from Trader Joe’s
Tomato toast! (tomatoes from my garden)
For the Seasonalist this weekend: I’m going for some summer walks because I just received a cortisone injection in the knee. Also an outdoor concert on Saturday night.
Now for…
🌎 Seasonal PSA Stuff
This weekend, we’ve got the French Open AND the Tony Awards. Not to mention the NBA Finals.
I will be sipping on the Drink of the Summer, the SauvyB with Shishito.
📚 Book Stuff
My reading lunch & downtime book is from my Fluffy Summer Reading Guide, The Summer of Broken Rules. So. Many. Characters. I advise reading it all at once. So far so good (a grieving teen plays a game of Assassin with extended family before a wedding in Martha’s Vineyard—stay with me—it’s enjoyable). ⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎥 TV & Movie Stuff
We watched Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning (but is it really?) in the theater (as Tom Cruise likes it). A long and adrenaline-packed movie (I could have done with cutting the submarine scene by ten minutes). But otherwise—a total summer blast. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As this is the Fluff Stuff, I must tell you that Sirens is, indeed, fluffy television. It’s a bit of a non-stressful mystery—I loved that it was only 5 tight episodes, and was a bit madcap, and of course, the fashion. And what potions is Kevin Bacon using to age so magically? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎁 Tiny Gifts Stuff
A friend dropped off a pint of seasonal ice cream for me. Just a little treat for a friend. It’s so important to give tiny, thoughtful gifts to each other. Connection, people!
A further investigation is warranted—this ice cream is A RUNNER-UP? In what Blue Bell Ice Cream describes as The Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament. The 2025 winner is…Groom’s Cake.
😇 Not-So Guilty Pleasure Stuff
So my sister-in-law is a doctor and has allllll the magazines at her office. She would occasionally bring me a stack—including—drumroll, Us Weekly. I immediately subscribed. For $50ish, you get a paper magazine in the mail with gems such as these.
Why are we not talking about Murder on Sex Island more?
🤣 Laughing Stuff
The 10-Most Watched Sketches on SNL this year.
💗 Touching My Soul Stuff
Feeling this deeply, now that I’m an empty nester. What’s next…for me?
💙 Wrap-Up
Lots of summer content coming your way!
May your weekend be fluffy.
Great Reads of the Week! I can’t get enough of the summer reading guides. The latest to drop is from Kylie at Cozy Pursuits, 32 Cozy Books to Read by the Water this Summer. Two of my favorite Substacks had a crossover event this week! From Petal & Hearth, A Day in the Life of: Ealing from Hobby Hour (she lives in a yurt and writes about off-grid life and minimalism and…of course, hobbies). Inspirational!
And a delightful new find, Advice for Making Life More Whimsical & Joyful from Feeling! Magazine. Step 1 is SEASONAL LIVING. Hellooooooo and yessssss.
Watching the French Open? Here are French-Inspired Recipes to Elevate Your Roland Garros Watch Party.
And why is the French Open called Roland-Garros? Explaining the French Open site. Fun fact: Roland Garros was an aviator, not a tennis player.
I wish I could name three current U.S. Men's tennis players
I am so curious about the Trader Joes bag of random chip flavors.
