Welcome to December!

We made it to December, Seasonalists!

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for Christmas this year. We kicked off the holiday season on Black Friday by not shopping, and instead stepping into a Hallmark wonderland of a town called Gruene, Texas. I’m ashamed of myself, I’ve lived in Austin for 16 years, and never visited Gruene, and it’s a mere 50-minute drive from Austin.

Let me set the scene—authentic old Texas, a mercantile general store, Santa, a pickle shop, an outdoor skating rink, a river, a famous old music hall, and musicians (mostly country or singer-songwriters) on every corner. Twinkling lights everywhere. I was swept away into a magical world I hadn’t felt in years. While in the general store, we ran into my son’s high school basketball teammate—the first thing he said was “I feel like I’m in a movie.” ¹ Same, same!
