A tiny gift from a friend
My Motherβs Day wish grantedβP. Terryβs burgers eaten outside
An emergency (arenβt they all) appendectomy for my eldestβnothing more seasonal
On tap for the Seasonalist this weekend: my eldest is graduating from college 3 days post-appendectomy! We will get him across that stage.
Now forβ¦
π Seasonal PSA Stuff
Itβs graduation time!
For all of you out there, my thoughts are with youβALL THE FEELS. Whether itβs kindergarten, middle school, or high schoolβitβs all so momentous.
I couldnβt be prouder of my soon-to-be college graduate. Heβs my economics-loving, wanderlust-traveling guy, and will be my Big Squishy forever. The sensitive living GOAT Susan Cain mentioned this poem in her newsletter this week, and nothing could hit home more.
π Book Stuff
Okay, Anabel Monaghan.
You win summer.
Iβm not done yet, but Iβve loved every single second of Itβs a Love Story. Such concise writing, nothing too much, everything just right, and the plot and the character developmentβjust right. This is THE JUST RIGHT book of summer in case I havenβt said it enough. βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
πΊ TV Stuff
Watchingβ¦Forever (based on the 1975 Judy Blume book which Iβm not sure I ever read?). Iβm three episodes in, and so far Iβm really enjoying the show. Two amazing leads, a great soundtrack, but peopleβthere is a lot of ANGST.
π Touching My Soul Stuff
Warm fuzzies. Literally. Watch through.
π₯ Appendix PSA Stuff
As mentioned, the eldest had his appendix removed on Wednesday.
Per the Mayo Clinic, official warning signs are:
Sudden pain that begins on the right side of the lower belly.
Sudden pain that begins around the belly button and often shifts to the lower right belly.
Pain that worsens with coughing, walking or making other jarring movements.
Nausea and vomiting.
Loss of appetite.
Low-grade fever that may rise as the illness worsens.
Constipation or diarrhea.
Belly bloating
Anecdotally, the eldest reported belly button of the highest order, along with vomiting.
And everyone is doing it now. Appendectomies are trending. For you Formula 1 fans.

2025 is βLife Skills Summerβ for my younger son.
While we were at the mechanic getting an emissions test, the mechanic asked us βHow do you feel about spiders?β
I snorted, because this is how my youngest son feels about spiders.
The mechanic showed us his little spider friend and gently let him go into the wild, while my son tried to act like it was no big deal.
π Wrap-Up
Coming TuesdayβThe Fluffy Summer Reading Guide from a Librarian! Last November, I interviewed my librarian bestie for the coziest holiday reads. This Tuesday, itβs SUMMER READING time. See you then.
May your weekend be fluffy.
Speedy recovery to your son and happy graduation. Iβm looking forward to your Summer Reading recs.
Okay, knowing that Forever is based on a Judy Blume book makes me like it so much more. I'm on episode 4!
