Materialists had so many things I usually enjoy in a movie but it just didn’t hit the mark for me! Learned into the concept of a rom-com without any comedy
I love hearing how people felt about it. We met a lady in the restroom who said her seat neighbor leaned over at the end of the film and said "what was that?"
I know! Not in one million years did I think I'd like this show, and I LOVE it. I cried a few times in the first season. I am two episodes in on season 2.
NINA! I might have to rethink our entire relationship because of your *HoT tAkE* on Materialists - SOB (and also just joking - I can accept differences in opinions). I just got home from watching it, though, and fully admit that I loved it so so much. I can't even say how giddy I was with the ending. I told my husband it made me just as fizzily happy as Only You did back in the 90s (Marisa Tomei? Venice? You know it, right??) My husband and girls went to see a zombie movie they ended up hating, and I saw Materialists (by MYSELF - first solo movie ever) and was so happy afterwards - I definitely won. Y'all are right that there is zero comedy, though, so that's a major fail on the marketing team - expectations definitely matter. As for Fat Boys .... YUM!! So damn good.
Ha! All good--I am thoroughly enjoying the wild swings in reviews. It's a movie that is sparking the conversation, and I love hearing the differing reactions.
ONLY YOU? I barely remember it. I'm going to have to do a rewatch.

I didn't laugh once! Which is fine, but if it's not a Romcom, then it's a romantic drama. Not that either. A romantic still life? ;o)
Ok, I adore the idea of a Cold Party! thanks for sharing.
Felt the same about materialists!!

HAHA! Yes! I really wanted to like it!
I biiiinged America’s Sweethearts the day it came out. A show I never thought I'd enjoy, but I'm so invested in the story!

A cold party is perfect! Adding that to my list for when I host family. 👏🏾
